Papa Lou. Thanks for all the great music. I cold called you about a decade ago when your daughter gave me your home phone. Just want to say thanks for all the great music and the even better break beats. Besides being an All-Star jazzman you hold a special place in Hip Hop history with some of the most iconic samples ever. Thanks again.

Good Morning Lou Donaldson and daughter Carol: First, I pray your are well during these trying times. It's been over 60 years that I remember so well. I was getting into the elevator, pressing the third floor where I lived with my parents, (Jesse & Irene) and siblings, in Throg's Neck. As the elevator door slowly crept to close; it reopened; and these beautiful, well dressed black men got on with these large enclosed instruments; and I would gasp! This occasion happen more than once and as I reflect back, I always wondered who were the musicians accompanying your father. My brother and I would love to know! Thank you Lou for the exhilaration of your music. May God Bless You.

Hello Lou, I love the 'Turtle Walk' track from the 'Hot Dog' in the late 1960s and I keep playing it. I never saw you play live but I still want to say a big thank you anyway.

Dear Lou, Happiest of birthdays to you! I had the (extreme) pleasure of meeting and talking to you in Miami on January 18, 1988 (you signed two of my albums) and again in Orlando about ten years ago, It was YOUR alto saxophone playing that got me into jazz, and for that I will be eternally grateful. Meeting you was one of the greatest experiences of my life! In addition to superb alto playing, you had me doubled-over with laughter! God bless you, Mr. Donaldson!

Hello,
I still enjoy your music every day ever since I discovered it. There were several albums in my fathers collection and as a teenage bassplayer I was very eager in learning all kinds of music. I loved the sound of your sax immediately, and I have done ever since. I hope you are well. Lots of love and friendship from the Netherlands to you and your beloved ones!
